Eugene "Geno" Gerard Werling, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, was born on March 8, 1938, in Dayton, Ohio. He left this world peacefully on January 23, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with congestive heart failure. His legacy will endure through the hearts of those he cherished most—the family he held so dear.
To many, Geno was a jovial soul who never met a stranger. His overarching sense of humor and incredible personality could brighten any room, creating smiles wherever he went. Known for his stubbornness and caring nature, he could be strict when necessary, but it was always rooted in deep love and concern for those around him. Whether he was playfully messing with people or showing his generous spirit, he left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered.
A proud retiree from Enterprise Roofing, Geno worked diligently as a roofer, earning the respect of his colleagues and the admiration of his family. However, his true pride rested in his family. Geno's proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. With all his heart, he celebrated each milestone in their lives, nurturing a bond that will forever remain unbreakable.
Geno found immense joy in life’s simple pleasures, including his love for cars—especially his cherished 1957 Chevy. He was also an ardent supporter of The Ohio State University football team, often heard cheering “Go Bucks!” His passion for food brought people together, creating moments of laughter and connection around the dinner table.
He is lovingly remembered by his son, Chris Werling; grandchildren, Jacob (Paloma) Severt, Christopher (Kayla) Werling, Rebecca (Max) Severt; and great-grandchildren, Jade, Anslee, Taislee, Dominic, and Callieann. His spirit will forever resonate with them, reminding them of the warmth of family and the strength of love.
Geno has joined his wife, Nancy Werling; son, Robert Werling; daughter, Mary Jo Severt; grandson, Nicholas John Werling; and their beloved fur baby, Katie Kay, in eternal rest. They will surely welcome him with open arms, setting the stage for joyful reunions filled with laughter.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Geno's life during visitation on February 2, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM, both taking place at Newcomer Funeral Home in Beavercreek, Ohio.
Though he may be gone from our sight, the love he shared, the lessons he imparted, and the memories created will forever linger in the hearts of those fortunate enough to know him. Eugene "Geno" Gerard Werling lived a life rich in love and laughter, teaching us all the importance of family and the joy of just being oneself. His presence will be deeply missed, yet celebrated for the extraordinary man he was.
