Eugene F. Held

HELD, Eugene F., age 85, of Dayton, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2008. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Ruth Held; brothers, Clarence and Hank Held, and sister, Harriet Neumann. He is survived by his children, Ronald (Geneva) Held of Berea, KY, Donald (Glenda) Held of Berea, KY, Leroy Held of Dayton, Jimmy (Laura) Held of Bellbrook, Cynthia Himes of Beavercreek, Valerie Held of Cincinnati, and Mary (Greg) Nash of Tampa; grandchildren, Maxwell, Sam, and Ronald Jr. (Jessica) Held, Melinda (Mike) Garner, Thomas, Matthew, Emily, and Mary Grace Nash; brother, Bob (Evelyn) Held; sister, Elaine Reichert, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Eugene was a U.S. Army veteran serving in WWII with the 786th Tank Division, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. He retired after nearly 30 years of service as a job setter from Delco Moraine. He was a loving husband and father who will be deeply missed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Monday, February 11, 2008 at St. Francis of Assisi, 6245 Wilmington Pike, Dayton. Family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00pm Sunday, February 10, 2008 at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering. The family wishes to thank the staff of Heartland of Centerville for their loving care of Eugene. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Acclaim Hospice, 7887 Washington Village Dr., Centerville, OH 45459. Interment will be at Woodland Cemetery, Dayton.
