Deel, Eugene 81, of Enon, OH passed away on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014. He was born on April 4, 1933 in Murphy, VA, the son of the late John Henry Deel and Carrie Deel. Eugene was one of eight children and grew up in a small coal mining community in southwest Virginia.
Eugene married Betty (Mullins) Deel on October 27, 1952 and eventually they moved to New Carlisle and later to Enon, OH. Eugene and Betty were happily married and devoted to each other for 61 years. Eugene dedicated his life to loving and caring for his family--his wife, three children, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Eugene was a veteran of United States Army and served during the Korean War. He worked for 35 years as a machinist and a quality control inspector at Harris Graphics in Dayton, OH before retiring. Throughout his life, he was a devote Christian and served as a deacon in the Primitive Baptist Church.
Eugene is survived by his loving wife Betty Deel, sons Tim Deel and Dennis Deel (daughter-in-law, Peggy Deel), and daughter Mary Wells (son-in-law Scott Wells). He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Natalie Nelson (grandson-in-law Zach Nelson), Jacob Deel, Adam Deel, Michel Moore, Cori Deel, Sean Wells, and Kyle Wells and two great-grandchildren Zoe Deel and Maggie Nelson. He also leaves behind two siblings, his sister Maxine Jones and his brother Bryan Deel.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents John Henry and Carrie Deel, his brothers John Henry Deel Jr., Raymond Deel, Garmon Deel, and Barnum Deel, and his sister Blanche Turner.
Family and friends may call at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton OH on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. for visitation and on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 10 a.m. for funeral services. A graveside service and internment will take place following the funeral services at Enon Cemetery in Enon, OH.
