Abney, Eugene (Gene)
It is a sad time for our family, we have lost our oldest brother and uncle, he was the patriarch of the Abney family. He was a faithful Christian, ordained Deacon, a brother, uncle and great uncle.
Gene was 86 of Kettering, Ohio and he went to be with Jesus on December 28, 2015, surrounded by his family. He was born in Irvine, Kentucky on January 27,1929.
Gene was preceded in death by his wife Lois, his father John and his mother Minnie who was standing at the gates of Heaven to welcome her son home. Also to welcome him are his sisters; Viola Heid, Beulah Lewis and brothers, Lester (Bussey) and Lewis.
Mourning his passing are sisters; Ruth Whittaker, Lucille McIntosh both of Dayton, Audrey Adams of Kentucky and Alene Moore of Arizona. His brothers; Art (Billie), Tom (Dorie), Virgil, and Hubert (Phyllis) Abney all of Dayton. Including numerous nieces and nephews along with great nieces and great nephews in Ohio, Kentucky and Arizona.
In 1944 Gene left Kentucky for a better life in Ohio. He was instrumental in moving his six sisters and five brothers from Kentucky to Ohio to give them a chance at a better life, with more opportunities and that he did! He was the patriarch of the family and loved by so many.
When he first moved to Dayton he worked at Master Electric and retired from the Chrysler Corporation after many years. He and Lois enjoyed traveling in their RV during their retirement years.
Gene loved the Lord and loved playing his guitar and singing praises to his Lord.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until the funeral at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home Beavercreek, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd. Beavercreek, OH 45432. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery.
The world and its desires pass away but the man who does the will of God lives forever.
