Ethel Curry Dillingham was born on February 20, 1918 in Lakewood, New Jersey. She died on April 27th at Hospice of Dayton. Ethel went to high school in Bordentown, New Jersey and Nursing School at Provident Hospital in Baltimore MD. Ethel received a BS in Nursing Education from Teacher's College, Columbia University, New York City and a Master's Degree in Guidance and Counseling from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. She was employed at the Dept. of Hospitals, New York City Army Corps and worked at the Dayton VA for 27 ½ years. Ethel resided in Dayton since 1949. She has been a committed and generous member of Resurrection/St. Benedict the Moor Catholic Church since 1961. Her Community service includes participation in the Dayton Deanery and Catholic Interracial Council. Ethel was a Board member of the Dakota Street Center and involved in a special health initiative under the direction of Archbishop Joseph Bernadine. She is survived by niece, Sister Gloria Rubio of Baltimore, MD; brother-in-law Dr. McKinley Dillingham; sister-in-law Lena Dillingham and many grateful friends including Sharon Metcalf and family. Visitation will be on Saturday, May 2, 2015 from 11:00am-11:30am at Maria-Joseph Living Care Center Chapel in Trotwood, Ohio with a funeral mass following at 11:30am. Burial at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
