Ernestine "Tina" Oaks, age 79 of Enon, OH passed away Sunday, October 7, 2018. She was born December 24, 1938 in Pike County, Kentucky to Ernest and Pricy (Runyon) Varney. Tina married Elmer Oaks on December 23, 1955 in Jackson, KY.
Tina loved bingo, gardening and NASCAR. She enjoyed canning and cooking for the family. Tina and Elmer were longtime members of the Enon VFW, and Tina was a past President of the Women's Auxiliary. Tina enjoyed her grandchildren and especially her great grandson Evan, who was the light of her life. She loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed by all.
Ernestine is survived by her daughter, Shelia Snyder and husband Kevin; grandson Ben Snyder and his wife Ashley, granddaughter Caroline Weir and her husband Chris; great grandson Evan Snyder; sister, Sue Fields; brother, Bob Varney; nephew, Tom Oaks; and numerous other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 42 years, Elmer; a sister, Phyllis Varney; two brothers James and John Varney; and a dear friend, Ray Feierstein.
A visitation will be on Friday, October 12, 2018 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Beavercreek Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432. Funeral Services will follow the visitation at 11:00 am at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Tina's name to American Diabetes Association, 2555 S Dixie Dr #112, Dayton, OH 45409.
