Erik Bryon Schlieman, age 42 of Dayton, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2021. He was born September 22, 1978 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Erik will be missed by his loving wife of 19 years, Angela; sons, Logan and Connor; mother, Barbara (Ralph) Harris; father, Craig (Tamara) Schlieman; brother, Daniel (Alicia) Schlieman; nephews, Austin and Brock (known as Brock-E-Bear by Erik); Step-brother, Jason (Hailey) White; step-sister, Renee Tetreault; father and mother-in-law, Marc and Karen Dickson; sister-in-law, Mindy (Alan) Moore; brother-in-law, Michael (Jenna) Dickson; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Erik was an extraordinary husband, father, son, brother and uncle. He was a 1997 graduate of Groveport-Madison High School where he met Angela as a teenager. Erik proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and has remained a Marine at heart.
Erik was ferociously protective of the ones he loved and tolerated no fools. When he loved, he loved really hard. He took every chance he could to spend time with his two boys. He enjoyed coaching the Wee-Hawks football team and helping out with the 7th & 8th graders. He loved being a dad. Erik also cherished any time he could spend with his nephews, Austin and Brock and loved them very much.
Erik had a mind like a sponge and when he was interested in something, he found out everything there was to know by researching. He studied all kinds of subjects including history and astronomy. Most recently, Erik started BBQ'ing and smoking meats. He liked to tinker and always had various projects in the works.
Erik was an all-around great guy who's belly laugh was infectious. He had a great sense of humor, and when he was around, every day seemed like April Fool's Day. Erik will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew him.
