Eric C. Bernt, age 79, passed away peacefully at Hospice of Dayton on September 8, 2022 surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Gladys Bernt and sister Karen Coleman. He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Janice (Boes) Bernt, son Rick (Tammy) Bernt of Beavercreek, son Doug (Jerri) Bernt of Spring Valley, grandchildren Tyler Bernt, Kaleigh Bernt, Kasey Bernt, Ryan Bernt, and Oliva McNamara, nephews and niece Tim (Linda) Blevins, John Blevins, Brooke Coleman and Todd Coleman. He is also survived by numerous friends. He will be greatly missed by all.
Eric's began his career in law enforcement by joining the Dayton Police Force in 1965 and later moving to Beavercreek where he became the Chief of Police in 1988 until retiring in 1991. In addition to police work, he started Beavercreek Appliance in 1976 and Appliance Gallery in 1991, both businesses are still thriving today.
Eric had a passion for cars and motorcycles and had the ability to fix anything that he encountered. He also enjoyed traveling and has visited all 50 states. He has a strong work ethic and a passion for helping others, which he passed onto those around him.
