Emma Reid

Emma Elizabeth Reid, age 75 of Dayton, passed away November 15, 2011. She was born December 7, 1935 in New Orleans, LA to the late John and Melvina Newman. In addition to her parents, Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Reid; aunt, Emma Mickins; 3 brothers: John Booker Newman, Sylvester Newman and William Newman.

Emma is survived by her sister, Estelle Veal of Houma, LA; sons: John Charles Davis and Frank (Stephanie) Davis; grandchildren: Lamar (Brittany) Payton, Jamar (LaDonna) Payton, Darius Davis and Brittney Davis; 6 great grandchildren; special friends: Bobbie Boggs, Dorothy Raimey, Angela Morgan, Sarah Rupert, Catherine Hoskins and many other loving friends.

Emma was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church for 39 years and served on the Usher Board.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 2067 N. Gettysburg Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 45406, where the family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service, from 9:00 – 11:00 am. Pastor Tommy H. Byrd, Jr. officiating. Burial to follow at Dayton National Cemetery.
