Emerson L. Pate Jr., affectionately known as "Bud," was born on February 21, 1944, in Franklin. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on December 16, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and devotion that will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Bud was a certified plumber and a certified welder, but he was truly a jack of all trades. His diverse skills allowed him to tackle any project with determination and craftsmanship. Bud took great pride in his work, and he approached each task with an unwavering commitment to excellence.

An active member of the Moraine City First Church of God, Bud was devoted to his faith and the community that it fostered. This dedication reflected the core values of his character—sweetness, gentleness, and kindness. He was often described as the sweetest person one could meet, a devoted husband, and a wonderful father.

Bud’s academic journey began at Franklin High School, where he was recognized in the Hall of Fame for his contributions to basketball. He later attended Cincinnati University, furthering his education and life experiences along the way.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Bud cherished joyful moments spent with his family. He took pride in organizing family gatherings that brought everyone together, creating lasting memories for his loved ones. His hobbies included working on puzzles, playing games, and embarking on vacations to Myrtle Beach. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, swimming, baseball and golfing. These activities provided him with joy and relaxation, reminding us all of the importance of leisure and family time.

Bud is survived by his devoted wife, Juanita; his son, Scott and his wife, April Pate; and his daughter, Jolene "Jodi" and her husband, Ronald Decker II. He also leaves behind cherished grandchildren, Amanda (Jeff) Collins, Brittany Pate, Nicholas (Katie) Decker, Ty Shyers, John Pate, Belinda Pate, Jacob Decker, and Ronald III "Ronnie; and great-grandchildren, Lauren, Jaycen, James, and Jaxson.

He was preceded in death by his father, Emerson Sr.; his mother, Margaret; his son, Trent Davis; his grandson, Steven Michael Emerson; and five brothers. Each of these individuals held a special place in Bud's heart, and their memories will continue to resonate within the family and community he loved so dearly.

Bud’s kindness and generosity touched the lives of many, and he will be missed profoundly. His legacy of love and devotion will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who are forever grateful for the time they shared with such an extraordinary man.
