Elza Townsend

TOWNSEND, Elza, age 84, of Kettering, died Saturday, July 25, 2005 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born June 10, 1921 in Irvine, Kentucky the son of Sylvester and Amanda (Stewart) Townsend. He served in the Army and was in World War II. He was a labor/foreman for B.G. Danis Construction Company for 33 years. He was a member of Kettering Assembly of God. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Allen and grandson Jason Christopher Townsend. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Hazel Katherine; sister Ila Mae; daughter and son-in-law Jean and Alan Purvis of Maine; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and David Maier of Vandalia; daughter Tammy Eisen of Kettering; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Deanna Townsend of Sunbury; five grandchildren, Heather Maier, Amanda Maier, Alex Purvis, Miranda Eisen and Amber Eisen. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 27, 2005 from 5-7 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home (4104 Needmore Rd.). Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 28, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at Kettering Assembly of God (2250 Stroop Rd.) with Pastor Doug Cooper officiating. Interment will be in David's Cemetery.
