Elwood Donald "Woodie" Wilson, age 91, of Enon, passed away on March 17, 2023. Woodie was born in Belmont, Ohio, on August 17, 1931, to Oliver and Margaret Wilson.
Woodie was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Joleen (Ted) Kay Wiseman; and brother, Raymond Wilson.
He is survived by wife of 71 years, Martha "Joanne" Wilson; sons, Donald (Lynne) Wilson and Gregg Wilson; granddaughters, Jennifer (Trent) Nelms and Michelle (Jonathan) Raymer; grandsons, Wes (Sarah) Wiseman and Drew Wiseman; great-grandchildren, Isabelle Wright, Hannah Wright, Joy Nelms, Victoria Nelms, Alyssa Brunk, Brennan Nelms, Tyler Brunk, Oden Wiseman, Rory Wiseman, and Casey Elwood Wiseman; and many other loving family and friends.
Woodie retired from Civil Service. He and Joanne joined a Nazarene church in the 80's and went on several Missionary trips to Peru & the Philippines. He was one of the most talented people and made so many amazing wood pieces with his lathe. He also would knit sweaters, hats, scarves & socks. He built houses from the ground up. He was a gifted piano player, born with natural talent. He was an amazing photographer. He also loved the outdoors, hiking, boating, canoeing, travel, adventure, camping, & bird watching. Woodie had a sarcastic humor & quick wit that sometimes had you thinking, "Did he really just say that?", and he was still using that wit up until the day before he passed.
He did not want a funeral, so we will host a celebration of his life in the near future. We will celebrate a life well lived, a man well loved, and one day, we will see him again.
