Elvin G. Thomas

Thomas, Elvin G., age 81, of West Carrollton, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at Hospice of Dayton. Elvin was a United States Army Veteran and he retired from General Motors. He played tuba in the Army Band and the German Sauerkraut Band and he was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan.

Elvin is survived by his daughter: Saundra Thomas of Dayton; grandchildren: Amecia (Thomas) Carpenter, Ronald F. Thomas, Bridget L. Thomas, Jacalyn G. Thomas all of Dayton; great grandson: Alexander Carpenter; sister: Mildred Matthews of Lexington, KY; brother: Bill Thomas of Versailles, KY; daughter-in-law: Lisa Thomas of Dayton; and numerous other family members, good friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his wife: Barbara Thomas; son: Jack Thomas; parents: Jackson & Maddie Thomas; and brother: Calvin Thomas.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Newcomer Funeral Home (South Chapel) 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon from 2:00 P.M. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
