Elvia Poe, age 88 of Dayton, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2023. She was born May 1, 1934 in Manchester, Kentucky the late daughter of Henry and Annalee Smith.
Elvia was an avid gardener who grew anything from vegetables for cooking and canning to flowers. She liked to sew and made curtains, clothes and bed spreads for her family. Elvia was also an animal lover who was devoted to her dogs. She was happiest surrounded by her pets and family.
Elvia is survived by her daughter, Debra F. Moore; son, Allen L. (Connie) Poe; grandchildren, Matthew (Laura) Poe, Kelly (Jennie) Poe and Brian (Brenna) Poe; great-grandchildren, Carson, Kaylyn, Ashlyn, Georgia, Sophia, Logan and Dylan; sister, Jessie Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by numerous family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Golden Smith.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 15, at 11:30am at the Miami Valley Memory Gardens.
