Elsie Leota English

April 25, 1928 — March 14, 2019

Elsie "Sammy" Leota English, age 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, March 14, 2019. She was born April 25th, 1928 in Olivesburg, Ohio, the daughter of the late William B. and Iva (Connelly) Jennings.

Mrs. English graduated Shelby High School in 1946. After working several years for the Army Air Force Supply Depot of Shelby she began her Civil Service career at Robins Air Force Base in Houston County, Georgia. She was then transferred to Wright Patterson Air Force Base from which she retired after 30 years as an Inventory Management Specialist.

Mainly known for her family stories, a lovely singing voice in her youth, beautiful handwriting, paintings of flowers and ceramics, knitting, and word puzzles done mostly while watching classic movies or listening to her favorite music from the 1940's and 1950's, Elsie's attention, love, and life was fully centered around her family and extended family.

She is preceded in death by her siblings John W. Jennings, James Stanley Jennings, and Dorothy J. Skipper; oldest son, Michael Allen Fagan; her grandson, Jacque "Cory" Cordell Fagan; and her former husband, Harry E. English.

She is survived by children Lorna Lloyd, James Scott Fagan, Jennifer (Darren) Pezzo, and Rebecca Arbogast; grandchildren, Christian, Tammie and Michelle Fagan, Derrick Arbogast, and Cecil (Bobbi) Piner; many nieces and nephews, and will be lovingly remembered by many other extended family and friends.

The family would like to express special thanks to the Hospice of Butler and Warren County.

There will be private family services on March 16th, 2019, though a life celebration is still being planned for some time in April. Please keep in touch with family for more details.
