Filer, Elsie Lucille, age 83, of Dayton, passed away on Friday, April 20, 2007 at Spring Creek Nursing Home, Huber Heights. She was born April 19, 1924 in Dixie, AL, the daughter of James Frank & Mattie Lee Douglas. She was formerly employed as a supervisor with Ohio Bell and later worked as a switchboard operator for Rikes in downtown Dayton. She was a longtime member and was very active in Grace United Methodist Church in Dayton where she was a faithful member of the prayer group. Elsie was very active in community service and visiting and communicating with the homebound. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert William Filer; sisters, Mary Feagin, Margaret Garrett, & Evelyn King; brother, Howard Douglas; son-in-law, Bobby Sweat; nephew, Al Wentling; and her step-mother, Maggie Douglas. Survivors include her son, Jeff (Janet) Filer of Fairborn; daughter, Jan Sweat of Huber Heights; grandchildren, Rachel Sweat, Josh Sweat, Trevor Filer, & Tracy Filer; sister, Jerry Garrett of Troy; her loving niece, Vicky Wentling; and Carol Sweat and extended family. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, OH. Burial will follow at Heritage Hills Memory Gardens, Springboro. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 5-7 PM.
