Elsie L. "Doody" Bystrek, age 80, of Dayton, passed away August 19, 2021. She was born April 8, 1941 in Dayton, Ohio. Doody was preceded in death by her parents: Alfred Schmolinski and Opal Boyd; brother, Mark Schmolinski.
Doody is survived by her husband of 63 years, Tony Bystrek; children: Tony Bystrek, Jr. (Brenda), Donna Baer, David Bystrek (Denise) and Tina Jones (Ricky); 8 grandchildren: Darlene Frazier, Ashley Baumgardner, Robert Herman, Joseph Bystrek, Rodney Kingery, Amy Snavely, Nicholas Bystrek and Eric Bystrek; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother, Alfred Schmolinski; sisters: Barbara Davis, Phyllis Smith and Brenda Horner; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Doody retired from Dayton Children's Hospital and attended Woodland Hills Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 pm on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, where the funeral service will begin at 4:00 pm.
