Elmer H. Lawrence Jr.

Elmer H. "JR" Lawrence, Jr. age 89 of Kettering, OH passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Kettering Medical Center. He was born on February 18, 1931 in Leitchfield, Kentucky to Elmer and Vonna (Cannon) Lawrence. JR married Mattie Brown on November 20, 1954 in Dayton, OH.
JR enjoyed music, playing guitar from a young age and played in the style of his idol, Chet Atkins. He was an avid bowler and golfer of many years. JR worked as a pipefitter and was a 50 year member of National Automatic Sprinkler Industry Local #669. He loved to fish and above all else, loved his family. JR was actively involved in the lives of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and was the family chauffer.
JR is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mattie; three daughters, Karen Kingdom, Julie Lawrence and Sarah (Garry) Joseph; two sons, David Lawrence and John (Christina) Lawrence; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister, Anna Chavez; a brother, Tony (Debbie) Lawrence; and other numerous extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Kimberly Starbuck; and two brothers, Eugene and Robert Lawrence.
A Private Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at 10:00 am at Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church, 4432 East Patterson Blvd. Beavercreek, OH 45430. Burial will follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery, Dayton, OH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church or Ohio's Hospice.
