Elmer L. Gibson, 68, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Kettering Hospital with his loving family by his side. Elmer was born August 14, 1950 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Homer Gibson and Alice (Chiton) Gibson.
Elmer loved building and riding Harley-Davidson Motorcycles with his friends. Elmer was a local pool shark who loved to compete against anyone who would take the challenge. He was known to some of his close friends as the legendary "River Rat" and more commonly known by his nickname, "Fudd". He was known as a local backyard mechanic using his "Fuddginuity" techniques to put cars together among other things. Elmer had a great passion for all of his dogs, they were his best friends.
Elmer is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Glenda F. (Washington) Gibson; children, Elmer L. Gibson, Jr., Wesley Gibson and Leslie Hale; 10 grandchildren, Michael Estep, Kyle Downing, Wesley J. Gibson, II, Maygun Gibson, Cheyenne Hayes, Cherokee Adams, Tristin Gibson, Brayden Gibson, Jacob Gibson and Gracie Gibson; 5 step-grandchildren, Stephanie Hale, Amber Soto, Michael Hale, II, Colton Hale and Chase Hale; 2 great-grandchildren, Tyson Michael James O'Connor and Mali Rabenstein; siblings, Bonnie (Gary) Caudill, Kay (Wiley) Gibson, Donna Combs, Darlene Gibson and Terry (Rebecca) Gibson; along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family and numerous close friends that he called his brothers.
Along with his parents, Elmer is preceded in death by his siblings, Linda Green, Donnie Gibson, Gary Gibson and Sheila Gibson.
Calling hours will be Sunday, March 31, 2019 from 2-4 p.m. at Newcomer South Dayton Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday April 1, 2019. Burial to follow at Springboro Cemetery.
