Elma Ruth Ross, age 80, born March 31, 1933 and passed away September 13, 2013 at Greenwood Manor Nursing Home, Xenia, OH.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Audrey (Ronald) Hanson; and father, Jack Grooms; husband, Robert L. Ross who she married March 8, 1958; and brother, Wendell E. Hanson.
She attended the Cedar Mills United Methodist Church for 20 years and attended the Nazarene Church after moving to Dayton. Ruth worked at Miami Valley Hospital where she retired after 37 years.
Ruth is survived by 2 step-children, Roberta (Lynn) Deardoff of Beavercreek, OH and Garry (Mary) Ross of West Union, OH; 1 granddaughter, Allison (Scott) Thigpen of Ft. Knox, KY and great grandson, Nathan. She is survived by 3 sisters, Shirley Roe and Linda (George) Vogler of Xenia, OH and Judy (Ray) Johnson; 2 brothers, Carl (Cindy) Hanson and Mike (Sandy) Hanson all of Blue Creek, OH; and sister-in-law, Thelma Hall of Williamsburg, OH. A special friend since childhood, Darlene Howell and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation is Thursday September 19, 2013 from 1pm to 2pm with funeral service starting at 2pm at the Newcomer Funeral Home (South Chapel), Kettering, OH.
Visitation will follow on Friday September 20, 2013 from 10am to 11am with funeral starting at 11am at the Cedar Mills Community Church, Blue Creek, OH.
Interment is in White Oak Cemetery, Blue Creek, OH.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
