Ellsworth "Jack" O'Bryan, 88, of Dayton, passed away May 12, 2014. He was born November 25, 1925 in Dayton, Ohio, the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Zwiesler) O'Bryan.
Jack was a graduate of Kiser High School and a Decorated WWII Navy Veteran. He retired from the Dayton Daily News as a Machinist after 17 years of service. Jack was a life time member and Past President of the Dayton Gymnastics Club and life time member of North Dayton Anglers and Gun Club.
A current member of American Legion Post 746.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Ruby K. (Colton) O'Bryan; brothers, Joseph and George "Red" O'Bryan and close friend, Gracie Briscoe.
Jack is survived by his children, John "Sach" (Mary) O'Bryan, Jim (Brenda) O'Bryan, Mike O'Bryan and Kathryn "Kitty" (Mike) Collins; sister, Patricia Caplinger; grandchildren, Christopher O'Bryan, Kelly O'Bryan, Mike Collins, Aaron "A.J." O'Bryan, Andrew O'Bryan, Stephanie Collins, Kyle O'Bryan, Stacey O'Bryan, Lindsay O'Bryan and Troy Collins; 11 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and many good friends.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 PM Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, Ohio. A mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 AM Monday, May 19, 2014 at Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church, 4128 Cedar Ridge Rd, Dayton, 45414.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors Project.
