Ellen LaGrone, age 67 of Dayton, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Miami Valley Hospital after a short illness.
She was born August 8, 1946 in Oakland, California the daughter of the late Clarence and Yvonne LaGrone.
Ellen served her community and volunteered at the Huber Heights Senior Center where she did taxes for the Seniors every year. She also volunteered for the Huber Heights Fire Dept. for their Home Safe Program and served on the Huber Heights Planning Commission. Ellen was awarded the Huber Heights Volunteer of the Year Award in 2014. She also helped in the 2nd grade class room at Rosa Park School in Dayton.
Ellen is survived by her sisters, Stephanie C. James, Diane Perry, her brothers, Paul (Mary) LaGrone, Jim (Rick) LaGrone, her Godson, Rick James, numerous nieces, nephews and her extended Ohio family.
A gathering of friends and family will be held from 5-6 PM Friday, May 23, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home - North Chapel (4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, Ohio 45424) where a Memorial Service will begin at 6:00 PM Friday.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, or the Huber Heights Senior Center.
