ATKINS, Ellaree, age 81, of Riverside, passed away Thursday, November 26, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born January 21, 1928 in Magoffin County, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Millie Allen and brother, Elmo Allen. She is survived by her husband of 60 years together, Donald Atkins; three sons and daughters-in-law, Garry and Elice Atkins, Ron and Noreen Atkins and Greg and Bernadette Atkins; sisters, Avanell Marshall and Thelma Allen both of Kentucky; 7 grandchildren, David and Amy Atkins, Brian and Amanda Atkins, Abbie and Heath Bryant, Katie Atkins and fiancé Zach Griffin, Justin Atkins, Braden Atkins, and Sarah Atkins; 6 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ilene Risner; special nephew and niece, Ray and Joyce Bowling. Ellaree loved her family, friends, and neighbors. One of her greatest joys was just being "Mamaw". She loved to cook and garden. She was always able to bring people together for food and celebration. The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Raju and the wonderful staff at the Greater Dayton Cancer Center, who were always dedicated to her quality of life. In addition, we would also like to thank the staff at Kettering Medical Center for their patience and loving care. We would finally like to extend our extreme gratitude to the nurses and all those associated with Hospice, for their caring support and tenderness. They were truly angels. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 29, 2009 from 6-8 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home Beavercreek Chapel where funeral services will be held Monday, November 30, 2009 at 10:00 with Pastor Adam Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. If desired, donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
