Elizabeth Ann Minturn Peterson

Peterson, Elizabeth Ann Minturn, of Kettering, passed away May 21, 2017.
She was born May 19, 1923 in Dayton, Ohio to the late William Tell and Gladys (Casterline) Minturn. Elizabeth was a graduate of Oakwood High School, Class of 1941 and was an Ohio University graduate, Class of 1945, where she earned her Bachelors of Education. She went on to become a Primary School teacher for 38 years, teaching at Edwin D. Smith Elementary School in Oakwood and Eastmont Elementary School in Dayton. Elizabeth was an active member of Fairmont Presbyterian Church. She was an avid reader, Cincinnati Reds fan, and enjoyed gardening. Elizabeth was very proud of her Scottish heritage and enjoyed sharing those traditions with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Jean Norris, and her nephew, Scott Minturn Norris.
Elizabeth is survived by her two sons, John Minturn Peterson, Robert William "Bob" Peterson and wife, Lynne; four grandchildren, Courtney Elizabeth Peterson, Ian Elliott MacPherson Peterson and wife, Kaetha Lee Frost Peterson, Duncan Joseph MacPherson Peterson, Alex David Peterson; and her niece, Jayne Norris Drozd and many other loving relatives and friends.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, May 26, 2017 at Fairmont Presbyterian Church 3705 Far Hills Avenue Kettering, OH 45429. Graveside Service, 2:30pm Friday at Washington Cemetery, 1741 Washington Ave. Washington Courthouse, OH 43160.
Flowers are welcome, however, donations may be made to the American Heart Association in Elizabeth's memory.
