Elizabeth L. "Betty" Hummel, age of 88, Beavercreek, OH, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021, in Beavercreek. She was born October 16, 1932 in Dayton, OH to the late James and Margaret Noonan.
Left to cherish Betty's memory are her children: Michael (Jackie) Hummel, Stephen Hummel, Anne (Gene) Iacovetta, Susan (Bob) Sanner, Thomas Hummel, Kathy (Joe) Jackson, Rosemary Flynn, John (Terri) Hummel, and Susan Daubenmire; grandchildren: Robert (Kim) and Stephen (Jordan) Hummel, Chad Iacovetta, Amanda (Chad) Thille, Zachary (Heather) Sanner, Tyler Sanner, Marcus Hummel, Brien (Andrea) and Nick Jackson, Alexa Jackson, Darren (Jessica) Flynn, Bridget (Jon) Proctor, Colleen Flynn, Aubrey (Jarrett) Griggs, Fawn (Brent) Schulz, Evan Daubenmire and Belle; and Elizabeth (Casey) McCoart, Emily Scheckelhoff, and Rachael (Ed) Davis; numerous great-grandchildren, to whom she was "Gigi" and Grandma; and several other relatives and friends.
Betty was a kind, loving, generous person with a determined spirit. She served as a dedicated registered nurse, alongside her husband, Dr. Robert J. Hummel until 1984. She maintained her nursing license until the age of eighty-eight. She was a long-time member of St. Luke Catholic Church in Beavercreek. Betty loved her tall, skinny, extra hot, vanilla latte from Starbucks. She enjoyed shopping for groceries, cooking for others, getting her nails done every week, attending church, and her book club. Betty was a graduate of Northridge High School, where she played on the field hockey team, and was the homecoming queen her senior year. Most of all, Betty enjoyed spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Hummel; son, Albert Scheckelhoff; and grandson, Ian Daubenmire.
The family will receive friends Thursday, October 7, 2021 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home - Beavercreek Chapel (3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, OH). A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Luke Catholic Church (1440 N Fairfield Rd, Beavercreek, OH) Friday, October 8, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Valley View Memorial Gardens.
