Elizabeth E."Betty" Mcmahon

McMahon, Elizabeth E. "Betty" (O'Meara), age 77, of Dayton, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Hospice of Dayton, following a courageous battle with cancer. Betty was born April 5, 1937 to the late James & Marcella (Heil) O'Meara. She graduated from Holy Trinity Elementary and Julienne High School, Class of 1955. She was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and a member of their choir for over 60 years. She also served as co-chair for the annual bake sales. Betty was an avid University of Dayton basketball fan and a season ticket holder.

Along with her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband: Dennis P. McMahon; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Gene & Barbara (Oldiges) O'Meara and Edward & Barbara (Meyer) O'Meara; two infant siblings: Johnnie & Patty; and four brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law: John & Florence McMahon, Robert McMahon, Eugene Bertke & Michael Canty.

She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law: Vicki McMahon and Pam & Steve Brun; four granddaughters: Courtney Harchaoui, Rachel, Paige & Isabelle Brun; brother and sister-in-law: Tom & Pat O'Meara; sisters and brothers-in-law: Lucy & Gene Cordonnier, Martha & George Beemsterboer; two sisters-in-law: Kathleen Bertke and Madonna Canty; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Marilyn & Dutch Myers; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and good friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 272 Bainbridge St., Dayton. Interment will follow Mass at Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Newcomer Funeral Home – South Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering and on Tuesday morning beginning at 9:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either Holy Trinity Catholic Church or Hospice of Dayton.
