ATKINS (Stevens), Elizabeth "Liz", 75, of Fairborn went home to the Lord Wednesday August 19, 2009. She was born December 1, 1933 in Cookeville, TN to parents Kelley and Alene (Bean) Wood. Liz is preceded in death by her husband Lonnie Stevens who passed away in 2003 and husband John Atkins who passed away 2009. She is survived by her sons Owen Dale Taylor of Hollywood, FL and Tom and Kathy Taylor; granddaughters Michelle Black and Heather Taylor; great grandsons Wesley and Jacob; siblings Juanita Clark, Nancy Dwyer, Billie and John Patten, Mary Smith, and James Wood, of Phoenix, AZ; many nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends. She loved her family, including step-children and step-grandchildren, very much. Liz was a 34-year member of Victory Temple (formerly Fairborn Church of God) where she loved being a greeter and taught Sunday School for many years. Liz and Lonnie were known as "The Singing Stevens" singing southern gospel in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Florida. She was also involved in the Red Hat Society. Funeral services will be held 12:00PM Saturday August 21, 2009 at Victory Temple, 2443 Valle Greene Dr, Fairborn, with Pastor Tim Walden and Pastor Ancil Carter officiating. Family will receive friends from 10:00AM-12:00PM Saturday prior to services at the church. Burial will be at Byron Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Victory Temple church in honor of Liz.
