Eleazar Edwin Doram

March 13, 1925 — February 16, 2012

"BROTHER" Eleazar Edwin Doram, age 86, of Dayton, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2012. He was born March 13, 1925 in Hamilton Co. (Cincinnati) Ohio and was the third child of five born to Eleazar Chesterfield Doram and Lemora Inez Brice. He was married to Mildred King, who preceded him in death, also his sisters Lemora Yolanda Lee, Mary Catherine Doram and brother Earl Chesterfield Doram. Also preceding Eleazar in death were his half-brother Alphonso and half-sister Leona, both born to Eleazar Chesterfield Doram from a prior marriage.

Eleazar is survived by a brother Raphael Doram of Las Vegas NV, his step daughters Wilma Buchanan of Nashville Tennessee, Evelyn Blanch-Payne of Atlanta Georgia, and step son Ricardo Blanch of Dayton Ohio.

Eleazar attended Oakwood College in 1946 and after returning home (Lexington, KY) he was stricken with polio from which he never fully recovered. He left Kentucky and moved to Ohio and later became a member of the Kettering Seventh Day Adventist church always referring to the church as his "home base". He retired from Navistar and also worked at two other careers finally ending up with Lutheran Social Services and retiring from there at the age of 84.

He was dedicated to helping others in too many ways to count, and spent many years as a lay minister spreading God's word throughout southern Ohio. He showed kindness and patience to all and always with a smile. His kind compassionate, loving demeanor would impact untold thousands of lives as well as those of his family. He was a Teacher's teacher, instructing us all to obey the commandments of Jesus, "pray against and claim the victory over all circumstances, and stand our ground."

The family gives special thanks to Polly and John, his dear friends and companions, who comforted him during the last of his life.

Memorial services will be held at a later date and time to be announced.

In lieu of flowers contributions should be made in memory of Eleazar to the Kettering Seventh Day Adventist Church Music Ministry, 3939 Stonebridge Drive, Kettering, Ohio 45419.
