Elda June Sowards

Elda June Sowards, age 84, of Beavercreek, passed away on November 29, 2023, peacefully at home. She was born in Sylvester, West Virginia, on June 15, 1939, the daughter of the late Hallie and Pauline Miller.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 50 years, Keith Sowards; brother, Richard Miller; and her grandson, Rory Keith Austin.

Elda is survived by her children, Lee-Ann Smith, Josh Sowards and Steve (Lyliette) Sowards; grandchildren, Lindsey (Kyle Bohn) Austin, Ryan Austin, Jordan Smith, Taylor Smith, Morgan Smith, Jacob Sowards and Alexa Sowards; great grandchildren, Rylan, Brynan, Camdyn and Kynlee Bohn & Aspyn Smith; and many other loving family and dear friends.


Elda retired from Trinity Nursing Home, where she was a Registered Nurse for over 20 years. She was a member of Beavercreek Church of the Nazarene for over 58 years. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren and friends. Elda had a very giving, loving nature and was always there for those she cared about. She always put others needs ahead of her own. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held from 2:00pm-5:00pm on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00pm, on Monday, December 11, 2023, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Shoup Cemetery, Beavercreek.
