Elam Franklin Campbell, age 72, of Dayton, passed away on June 29, 2020. He was born in Anniston, Alabama on August 11, 1947, the son of the late Martin and Mary (Newell) Campbell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Kenny Campbell and Danny Campbell.
Elam is survived by his children, Candy (Harve, Jr.) Smith, Lonnie Campbell, Philip (LaDonna) Gilley and J.R. (Anita) Rowland; grandchildren, Brittany, Shane, Kirsten, Kaitlyn, Alyssa and Alexis; great grandchildren, Hunter, Adalyn, McKynlee and Aiden; former wife, Barbara Campbell; siblings, James Campbell and Linda Murnahan; and many other loving family members and friends.
He served his country proudly in the Army during the Vietnam War. Elam retired from GM/Delphi after 36 years, where he was an Assemblyman. After retiring, he worked for a number of years at Goodwill. In his free time, he enjoyed shooting & collecting his guns, fishing and camping. He was an avid NASCAR fan, he especially liked cheering on Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Elam also adored his 2 fur babies, Jody and Sammie Jo.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 3, 2020 from 5pm-8pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton.
