Elaine Taliaferro, age 99 of Beavercreek, Ohio, passed away peacefully July 12, 2024.
Elaine was born in Bothwell, Utah on March 18, 1925 to the late Thomas and Annie Stokes. Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, her 11 brothers and sisters, and her husband of 64 years, Lt Col Richard T. Taliaferro. She is survived by her 5 children, Julie Campbell (Brad), Dennis (Meri), Richard (Jessie), David (An) and Janice, her 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Elaine was a loving homemaker, and her family was the center of her world. She faithfully supported her husband Richard's career with the Air Force, first as a career officer, then as a Civilian professor at the Air Force Institute of Technology. Together with their children, they traveled and lived in many places stateside and overseas.
Her passion for gardening made her flowers, shrubs, and lawn the envy of the neighborhood, as did her attention to the appearance of her home. During leisure time, she enjoyed baking for others, doing puzzles with her grandchildren, watching television shows and movies. She was known for her quick smile and keen wit.
Loving and giving, Elaine was kind and supportive of others. She was loved by all and will be deeply missed.
Thank you to Newcomer Funeral Home for their respectful care of Mom and the family. Thank you to Traditions of Beavercreek staff and Hospice of Dayton for the abundance of love you gave her.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one of Elaine's favorite charities: Shriners of Dayton, Humane Society of Greater Dayton, or House of Bread.
Private service will be held with family. Elaine will be laid to rest at Dayton National Cemetery.
