Edwin L. Stamper, age 93 of Beavercreek, OH passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born July 30, 1927 in Osborn, Ohio to Carl Stamper and Rosa Cochran. He married Hazel Farmer on July 5, 1947 in Paintsville, KY.
Edwin proudly served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He graduated from Theology school in 1951 and worked as an inspector for General Motors, retiring in 1986. Edwin was a ham radio operator and during the Vietnam War relayed messages to families from their loved ones. He was an avid NASCAR and Indy Car fan.
Edwin is survived by his two sons, Larry (Kristi) Stamper and Gerald (Janet) Stamper; eight grandchildren, Kelly Stamper, Eric (Katie) Stamper, Joshua (Tiffany) Lewis, Kelly (Chris) Chandler, Dustin Stamper, Hunter Stamper, Noah Stamper and Zachary Weiss; nine great grandchildren; a brother, Dean Haney; and other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 66 years, Hazel Stamper; a son, Gene Stamper; siblings, Dorsey Weddington, Charles Stamper, Jean Lacy and Jared Haney.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Edwin's name can be made to Ohio's Hospice (Hospice of Dayton), 34 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, OH 45420.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 from 12:30 to 1:30 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Beavercreek Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432. Funeral Services will follow the visitation at 1:30 pm at the funeral home. Burial to follow services at Valley View Memorial Gardens, Xenia, OH.
