Edwin G. Schwab Jr.

Edwin G. Schwab Jr., age 85, of Moraine, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2017. Edwin was born in Pomeroy, OH on July 6, 1932 to the late Edwin Sr. & Marie Schwab, along with twelve other siblings.

Edwin proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He earned many awards including two Purple Hearts, UN Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Naval Occupational Medal and the Korean PUC Medal.

He worked as a stone artisan for thirty years. Edwin raised six children and a host of others that called him dad.

Edwin was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-six years, Alice Schwab and seven siblings.

Edwin is survived by his children, Edwin G. (Brenda) Schwab III, Timothy L. (Beverly) Schwab, Steven B. (Midge) Schwab, Linda L. (Devin) Powell, Charles D. Schwab and Scott A. (Sara) Schwab; grandchildren, Eddie, Annie, Steven (Mary), Brian, Nick, David (Caitlin), Misty, Sam, Samantha, Shane (Rayna), Macy (Jeffrey), Gunnar, Lance, Chris, Lisa and Kristin; a plethora of great-grandchildren; siblings, Wannita Stiver, James Schwab, Emma DiSalvo, Anna Toops and Sherry Payne; and many other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, December 4, 2017 from 12:45pm-1:45pm at Newcomer Funeral Home South-Kettering Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering, OH 45439. The memorial service will follow at 1:45pm. Edwin will be laid to rest at Dayton National Cemetery at 2:30pm.
