VOLK, Sr, Edward S. (Poppo), 83, of Dayton passed away Sunday, January 13, 2008 at Hospice of Dayton. He is preceded in death by his daughters Kathleen J. Rapp and Beverly S. Bishop; brother William Volk; sisters Sophia Witwer, Mary Kinner, Katie Holland and Josephine Rebovich. Edward is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Lorena (Jo) Volk; son Ed (Bev) Volk Jr.; daughters Shirley (Ralph) Trimborn, Debbie (Dave) Wolfe; brother Lewis (Bobby) Volk; sisters Frances Rhoades and Rose Sorrell; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 1 great- great grandson; many nieces, nephews and his beloved dog Stormy. He was a veteran in the U.S. Army with service in WWII, where he was awarded the Bronze Stars Victory Medal. Edward was a life member of the VFW Post 8312, Buck Tent 69 order of Cooties, American Legion Post 763. He was a retired owner of B&E Painting Company, coached Park Layne Little League baseball for many years and member of Greenmont Community Church. Funeral services will be held 2:00PM Wednesday, January 16, 2007 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd. Family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00PM prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will follow services at Dayton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, Ohio 45420 in Edward's memory.
