Edward A. Steinmetz, age 80, of Washington Township passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on May 5, 2020. He had a very rare neurological disorder, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), and encourages all to support their research efforts.
He was born December 27, 1939 in Dover, Ohio to the late Herman and Mary (Omlor) Steinmetz.
Edward was a 1957 graduate of Calvert High School, Tiffin, Ohio, he then attended the University of Dayton graduating in June 1961 with a BS degree in Chemistry.
He worked at Monsanto/EG & G Mound Applied Technologies for 32 years retiring as a Senior Research Chemist.
Edward was a faithful member of St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Kettering, he enjoyed playing cards at the Charles Lathrem Senior Center, hiking in nature and bike riding along Ohio bike trails with his wife, Sandra.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Richard.
Edward is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sandra R. Steinmetz, son Mark (Jaclyn) Steinmetz of Columbus, Ohio; daughter Debora (Stewart) Barone; grandchildren Madison, Samantha and Allison; brothers David (Gail) Steinmetz of Pittsburgh, PA and Daniel (Karen) Steinmetz of Dayton, Ohio; as well as many other relatives and friends.
A private inurnment will be held by Edward's family at Calvary Cemetery followed by a public Celebration of his Life at a later date.
