Edward Arthur Roberts

ROBERTS, Edward A. "Ed", age 78, of Miamisburg, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, February 12, 2008. He was born January 24, 1930 in the Philippine Islands the son of the late Dr. Walter N. Roberts and Marjorie (Miller) Roberts while serving as missionaries. Ed was a former insurance agent with Nationwide Insurance for over 35 years in Fairborn, OH. After Ed retired he was a volunteer for various organizations, including Greene Memorial Hospital, Hipple Cancer Research Center, and Five Rivers Metro Parks. He was also an avid Civil War enthusiast and was a member of the Civil War Round Table. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jan (Bowser) Roberts in 2000; sisters, Edna Mae Rudy and Janet Louise Roberts; brother, Charles Roberts. He is survived by his wife, Eila (Cornett) Roberts; children, Dr. Shauna Roberts (Dr. David Malueg), Renee (Tracey) Smith, Mitch (Lisa) Roberts, and Vince (Jackie) Roberts; step-sons, Harold (Melissa) Raines, Jr. and Anthony (Nancy) Raines; brother, Dr. Richard (Monica) Roberts; close cousin, Sylvia (Wade) Vance; close nephew, John (Diane) Roberts; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Friday, February 15, 2008 from 5-8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home Beavercreek Chapel (3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd.). Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 16, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Aley United Methodist Church with Pastor Matt Scholl officiating. Burial will follow in Aley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ed's memory to Special Wish Foundation, American Heart Association, or a charity of your choice.
