Edith Mae "Edie" Smith, age 72 of Dayton, passed away January 3, 2021. She was born February 23, 1948 in Livingston, TN to the late Harold and Anna Ward. In addition to her parents, Edie was preceded in death by her sister, Ruby McCormick; brothers: Bruce Ward and Bobby Ward.
Edie is survived by her husband of 48 years, William B. Smith; children: Kenneth "Ray" Carter (Lori Brown) and Lisa Peaco (Chuck); step-children: Dewayne Smith (Gertie Florence), Greg Smith (Sheila) and Tammy Wilder (Mark); grandchildren: Ashley King (James), Laurin Carter (Dylan Judd) and Tommy Peaco (Jordann McCartney); step-grandchildren: Kirsten, Brittany, Christopher, Sandra, Angeleah and Heather; great-grandchildren: Phenix, Nova, Madden, Milo, Kylan and Jasiah; several step-great-grandchildren; sisters: Brenda Smith (Jim) and Kim Parker (Mike); many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Edith enjoyed spending time with her family; she loved them more than anything in the world. Edie loved the holidays because she knew it would be more time to spend with her family and that she got to go shopping for them.
Visitation will be held from 12:30-1:30 pm on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, where the funeral service will begin at 1:30 pm.
