Arnold, Edith Marie 85, of Beavercreek, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 1, 2012. Edith was born on April 2, 1926 in Flushing, MI to Leo and Mabel Newton who preceded her in death. Edith is survived by her husband of 66 years, Richard J. Arnold; her son Gordon (Margaret) Arnold of Dayton; grandchildren Megan (Kraig) Neer of Dayton, David Arnold of Denver, CO and Sarah (Seph) Coster of Arlington, VA; great-grandson Kaleb Neer; and brother, Gordon Newton of Canton, OH. Edith was Valedictorian of her high school class in Michigan and after raising her son in Columbus worked as a manager at Diocesan Publishing. A dedicated member and volunteer at Covenant Presbyterian Church and later Riverside Methodist Church in Columbus, Edith was very giving of her time and love to all. Lovingly known as "Nanny" to her grandchildren and great-grandson, she will be missed by her family. Services will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek. Family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Donations may be made in memory of Edith to Trinity Community of Beavercreek or Crossroads Hospice.
