Ed D. Bowling, age 71, of Huber Heights, went home to be with the Lord on July 14, 2021. He was born April 20, 1950 in Ashland, KY to the late Frank and Mabel Bowling. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his son, Phillip Dean Bowling in 2006; and brother, Roy "Chip" Bowling.
Ed is survived by his wife of 48 years, Angela Bowling; children: Samuel Bowling (Crystal) and Christina Nagle (Nathanial); grandchildren: Katelynn, Tori, Tayler, Alex, Moriah, Lexi, Reid, Ryker and Lilly; great-grandchildren: Elam and Kynlee; brother, Mark Bowling (Debi); sister, Gretta Bugg (Michael); numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ed proudly served in the United States Navy. Ed served on many boards and committees and was an administrative bishop of the Church of God and also Church of God Mountain Assembly. In early ministry, he was a New Field representative who went and started churches in proposed areas. Ed pastored many years in different states and locally at Chambersburg Road Church of God as well as most recently the House of Refuge Church of God. Everyone knew Ed for his ability to make people laugh; he loved it! He never knew a stranger, and the love of people and ministry was his passion.
Visitation will be held from 12-1 pm on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, where the funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm. Pastors Tim Walden and Dennis Epperson co-officiating. Burial and military honors to follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery.
