Earnest Edward Funderburg
July 29, 1927 — December 2, 2016
FUNDERBURG, Earnest Edward "George", age 89 of Dayton, passed away December 2, 2016 in Cincinnati. Earnest was born to the late Ida and Edward Funderburg in 1927.
He joined the United States Army in 1945. He later went on to proudly serve in the United States Air Force, where he retired in 1965 as a Sergeant. After his service in the armed forces, he and his wife volunteered for the American Legion Post 675, where he served as a past commander and as the post chaplain.
Earnest was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Funderburg.
He is survived by his sons, Randy Funderburg and Roger (Nancy) Howsmon; 5 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; brother, R.G. Funderburg; and many other relatives and friends.A graveside service and rendering of military honors will be held on Monday, December 12, 2016 at Bloomingburg Cemetery in Bloomingburg, OH at 11:30am.
