Earl Ratzer

RATZER, Earl MacKenzie, born 6/17/1920 died 7/17/2009 He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Quisenberry Ratzer, born 2/22/1922, died on 2/26/2005. They were married 60 years at the time of her passing. Four daughters and their husbands survive them; Kris and Jerry Micheels of Northbrook, IL, Jan and Dave Ulrich of Bellbrook, OH, Andrea and Jacob Linn of Thermopolis, WY, and Gretchen and Mike O'Blenness of Idaho Falls, ID. Also survived by 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was part of the 5th Army and served in the European, African, and Middle Eastern Theaters of WWII, and received the Legion of Merit Award and the rank of Master Sergeant. Earl was active in the Beta Theta Phi Fraternity at the University of Chicago where he received his BA and Masters degrees. A special thanks to his Care Giver, Shirley Crawford for her dedication in making his last year so meaningful. A private memorial will be held at a later date. Donations to Hospice of Dayton in his memory would be appreciated, for they also provided so much for him and his extended family.
