E. Mae Knox, age 81, passed away Saturday , December 2, 2023. She was born on November 3, 1942 in Maysville, Kentucy to the late Lola and Estil Tucker.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her eldest sister, Ardeth J. Readnour.
She is survived by her loving husband, Alan Knox; her daughter, Molly (Glen) Burrick; her grandchildren, Gavin and Megan (Destiney) and her great-grandchildren, Brayden, Landen, Noah and Maisyn; her sister, Sue(Doug) McGill. She is also survived by numerous loving family and lifelong friends.
Mae enjoyed a 30-year career with the AT&T telephone service and retired at the ripe old age of 49. She was very active in her retirement years traveling with friends. She was an active member in church, enjoyed flower gardening, reading and was a member of several quilting clubs, resulting in many beautiful quilts. She developed an interest in Thorough-Bred horse racing and for many years attended the spring/fall meets at Keenland Race Track in Lexington Ky with friends and family. With her winning smile and pleasing personality, she attracted and maintained many friends from high school through the workplace and well into her retirement years. She loved spending time with her friends (of 50 + years) in the neighborhood, at the YMCA and the VFW. She never met a stranger.
Throughout her last months, she was sustained by the steady outpouring of love and encouragement received in the form of cards, phone calls and visits. When asked by caregivers about her most memorable, it was always the birth and 18 years of being a grandma.
Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
