Dwaine Leo Fairchild

December 16, 1951 — November 17, 2022

Dwaine Leo Fairchild went home to be with the Lord on November 17, 2022 at 1:40pm. Dwaine was born on December 16, 1951 to the late Rev. Vernal and Geraldine (Day) Fairchild.

Dwaine was a skilled carpenter for over 30 years. He enjoyed playing the guitar, singing with his family, teaching Sunday School, listening to blue grass music, and Little Debbie snack cakes.

Dwaine loved to tell the story about the night the Lord saved him at Xenia Baptist Temple in January 1965 when he was 13 years old. Dwaine loved the Lord and would witness every time he got the chance. After his strokes, he was nearly home bound and began witnessing to any health care worker that came into his home. Dwaine was a humble man, often crying when he heard lyrics to a song or when testifying about something the Lord had done for him.

Dwaine is preceded in death by his parents and niece, Amy Murrell. He is survived by his wife of nearly 34 years: Kitty Fairchild; sons: Chris, Jeff, Terry (Michelle), and Brian Fairchild; granddaughters: Taylor and Haley; daughters: Carla (Raymond) Smith and Tara (Buck) Smith; grandchildren: Elias, Titus (Emma), Caleb, Silas, Myleigh, Gabriel, and Amelia; siblings: Elaine Murphy and Delbert (Media) Fairchild; niece:Leah (Seth) Hayes; aunt:Thelma Adkins; many cousins, and longtime friends Ronnie Carey and Sonny VanHorn.

He was a member of Valley Street Free United Baptist Church for over 20 years and dearly loved his church family. He will be missed by all who knew him.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 11:00am to 12:00pm at the Valley Street Free United Baptist Church, 4355 Valley Street, Dayton. Funeral services will begin immediately following at 12:00pm officiated by Pastor Buck Smith. Dwaine will be laid to rest at Byron Cemetery, Fairborn, Ohio.
