Duwain Eugene Boivin

August 1, 1945 — July 28, 2016

DuWain E. Boivin, age 70, of Xenia, passed on peacefully after a lengthy illness at his home in Xenia, OH on Thursday, July 28, 2016. He was born August 1, 1945 in Saginaw, MI to the late DuWain A. and Marie Boivin.

DuWain is survived by his wife Veronica of 49 years; sons: DuWain K. and Douglas W. Boivin; sisters: Joan (Jim) Hudson, and Janice (John) Marcoux; beloved nieces and nephews: Diane (Jens) Andersen, Melissa Fleury, Michael Hudson, and Stephen Marcoux; numerous friends; and his adored pet cockatoo, Crazy Bird.

DuWain loved to design new things. In his youth, he won several awards for his science projects. He began his career as an engineer in a co-op program with General Motors Institute in Flint, MI, through which he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial engineering. DuWain later specialized in human resources. He retired from General Motors after 34 years in a variety of engineering, personnel, and management positions. He traveled widely during the course of his career, especially Portugal and Mexico.

After retiring from General Motors, DuWain re-entered the work force when he went to work for Oxford Mining Company in Coshocton, OH as a personnel manager.
He was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, and Toastmasters.

DuWain enjoyed electronics, woodworking, sailing, and computers. He was a gifted problem solver. He was always available and willing to counsel others in their time of need. He was particularly fond of his cockatoo, Crazy Bird. They had a special relationship, and the bird never left his shoulder, even after DuWain passed.
