Dudley V. Goetschel, age 66 of Washington Township, passed away November 7, 2018 at Hospice of Dayton.
Dudley was born October 20, 1952 in Rockford, IL to Millard and Marjorie (Whitney) Goetschel. He graduated from Winnebago High School in1970, and continued his education at Northern Illinois University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in 1974, followed by his Masters in Mathematics in 1976.
Upon graduation from college, he was employed by Argonne National Laboratories in Argonne, IL, followed by Amerock in Rockford, IL before he came to Ohio to work as a contractor at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton. He later worked as a data analyst at Lexis Nexis in Miamisburg, OH until he was disabled by a stroke in 2007.
Dudley not only had an incredible brain for numbers, but was also a very talented pianist, having played with members of the band Cheap Trick in their early days. He also accompanied friends Ron & Ann Holm on their album Song for Friends in 1972.
Dudley was a loving and proud father and grandfather. He was a devoted friend with an unparalleled and wickedly sarcastic sense of humor.
Dudley was preceded in death by parents Millard and Marjorie (Whitney) Goetschel, and nephew Chad Whitney.
He is survived by his children Allyson (Jared) Voss, Jemella Hammons, and Kyle Goetschel; grandchildren Lyla Voss, and Wyatt and Charlotte Hammons; sisters Effie (Cletus) Hoppe and Peggy (Scott) Whitney; nieces Tina (Brian) Butte and Stephanie (Dan) Salman; and nephew Chuck (Monique) Hoppe.
Family will greet friends from 3:00pm to 4:00pm on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Newcomer – Beavercreek Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd. Beavercreek, OH 45432, immediately followed by a memorial service at 4:00pm.
