Lawrence (Larry) Reed Ph.D., 85, of Huber Heights, passed away December 7, 2015.

He is survived by his beautiful wife of 53 years, Erna del Carmen Reed, daughters Agnes F. Reed Davis and her husband Mark of Maryland, and their children Andre and Joel; and Carmen A. Viera and her sons Pedro and Angelo. He is also survived by his sisters Margie Roberts and spouse Perry of Washington; and Joyce Mompean of California and many other nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents Mr. Elbert E. Reed and Marian F. (Harrington) Reed, his brothers Richard and David Reed, and brother-in-law Pedro Mompean. His father was the Executive Manager of "El Vergel," a large Methodist educational and agricultural Mission, close to the city of Angol, Chile.

Lawrence was raised in "El Vergel" until 1948 when, at the age of 18 he came to the United States to attend college. Lawrence also held a clinical position in a medical setting in which he helped individuals with eating disorders. In 2010, Lawrence wrote and published "A Garden of Paradise. A Life of El Vergel". A love story and beautiful tribute to his parents and their devoted mission work in Chile.

Lawrence Reed has been and will always be a devoted and caring husband, father, and grandfather. His wisdom, love of life, and great ambition have been and still remain his greatest strengths . As a husband he has dedicated 5 years to Erna after her stroke caring for her health and daily needs. As a father he has given unselfishly advice and unconditional love. As a grandfather, he has been like a father and mentor to Pedro and Angelo. We will miss you and with no doubt we will see you again in heaven with God. We love you so much!!! God bless.
