Dr. Jamesb. Frost

Dr. James Burl Frost, 71, of Kettering, Ohio, passed away on September 19, 2015 peacefully at his home after a long battle with leukemia.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on September 27, 2015 at Kettering Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Jim was born on February 5, 1944 in Los Angeles, California. He graduated from La Sierra University in 1966 and from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in 1970, and specialized in diagnostic radiology.

He served as an army physician for 8 years and during that time was stationed in Hawaii, Washington, D.C., and South Carolina. At the time of his retirement from the army in 1977 he was serving as Chief of Radiology and had achieved the rank of Major.

Jim was married to Judy, his high school sweetheart, on June 11, 1967 in California. They were married for 48 years. During their life together he worked as a diagnostic radiologist at several hospitals and his years of service as a physician included a tenure as Chief of Staff at Upper Valley Medical Center, during which time he supervised construction of their new hospital. He was also active in teaching, heading a class for 20 years at Kettering College of Medical Arts. He enjoyed traveling, cars, stamp collecting, photography, and woodworking.

Jim is survived by his wife, Judy, and his two children, Joy Frost and Jessica Frost. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Burl and Genevieve Frost, and his brother, Jack Frost.

The family of Jim Frost wishes to thank the many workers and caregivers of the James Cancer Center of Ohio State University Medical Center and the Hospice of Dayton for their excellent care during his illness. Heartfelt thanks are also sent to the many church members, friends, and neighbors who have been so supportive and giving during their lives.
