Douglas Joseph Petonke, age 57 of Dayton, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at Sycamore Hospital surrounded by family.
Doug was born in Fremont, OH to Edward and Lorraine (Lotycz) Petonke. Doug moved to Dayton in 1989 with his wife, Kathryn.
He worked for many years as an engineer for Appleton Papers and then as a consultant later in life. Doug was an Ohio State Buckeyes fan and loved cheering on his alma mater. He was a lover of 60s and 70s rock, mathematics, and the workings of the mind.
Douglas is preceded in death by his father, Edward Petonke and his brother, Dennis Petonke.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 28 years, Kathryn Petonke; sons, Dylan Petonke and Dustin Petonke; mother, Lorraine (Lotycz) Petonke; brother, David Petonke; and many other loving relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home – Kettering Chapel from 5-8. Funeral Service will be held the following day (November, 18, 2015) at 11:00am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Doug's name to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital. Burial to follow at Woodland Cemetery.
