MANUEL, Douglas Keith, age 39, of Dayton, made his transition on May 3, 2008 as the result of a house fire. He was born on August 31, 1968 and is survived by his father and step-mother, Bobby K. and Nancy Manuel of Kettering; his mother, Rev. Linda A. Marshall of Centerville; his sister, Nicole Manuel of Kettering; his half sister, Jacqui Kung Marshall of Centerville; a step-sister, Kim McIntosh of Dayton, his maternal grandparents, Robert E. and Betty D. Marshall of Centerville, his aunt and uncle, Richard and Linda Manuel of West Chester; several cousins; and his ex-wife Misty and her children Samantha and Brooke. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, George and Ida Manuel; his uncle, Philip L. Marshall; and his miracle niece, Alexandra Danielle. Alexandra's short life provided the key information needed for Doug's diagnosis of Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy. This opened the door for understanding of the many challenges Doug faced in his lifetime. Doug was eventually able to receive medical services through social security disability. His family takes comfort in knowing that he is now at peace. Doug is remembered for his love for Jesus, the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Chicago Bears, WWE, 80's music, and playing Trivia with his sister, Nicole, and best friend, Rob. On Saturday, May 10, Doug's immediate family will begin receiving family and friends at 10am followed by a Memorial service at 11am at Newcomer Funeral Home at 3940 Kettering Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army Booth House at 624 South Main Street, Dayton, OH 45402; the DePaul Center at 15 S. St. Clair Street, Dayton, OH 45402; and/or the Muscular Dystophy Association are requested.
