Douglas Haybron, 71, of Beavercreek, Ohio passed away on Sunday April 23, 2023 at 6:25 pm. He was born June 28th, 1951 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. Shortly after birth he showed signs of polio that had gone through Dayton. His legs were paralyzed and the doctors told our parents that he would probably not reach his first birthday.
When Doug was five years old he met four year old Marlene Olsen who was the 1957 Polio Fund Poster Girl on tour. She had to miss the Polio Fund Show held in Dayton because of illness. To brighten her confinement Doug paid her a visit and brought her flowers.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents Dal and Mary Lou Haybron, twin brothers Dallas and Glenn, sister Mary, niece Gayle Lynn Bussard, brother Duke, step brother Ron Haybron and his wife Alice and brother in laws Phil Burg and John Malone.
His surviving siblings are Ruth Ann Bussard (Chuck), Melody Burg, Pat Malone, Dan Haybron (Natalie) and Dal Haybron, as well as many nieces and nephews. Doug also had lots of friends. Pepsi lived in a double next door to Doug for over 20 years. Her husband passed away sometime ago, so Pepsi looked after Doug and he looked after her. She had a dog called Sport and Doug helped her care for the dog. Sport passed away a few months ago. Doug really missed that dog.
Ed, Frank, Bobby and Darlene are just some of the close friends we knew personally. Those who knew him knew he loved his Corvettes. He had several over the years. Fishing was one of the things he loved to do too. Over the years we had many family vacations in the summer at Dawson Resort in Manitoulin Island, Canada.
Public visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton Xenia Rd) on Wednesday May 3rd, 2023 at 3:00 pm with memorial service to be held at 4:00 pm.
